What is the main focus of your agency?
The Mackoul Group of Florida is committed to providing insurance products and superior service to all sectors of the general public. We have established a business relationship with many of the local realtors, title companies, mortgage brokers and attorneys who provide us with a stream of clients and business referrals. We have also developed strong relationship with our existing clients who have remained loyal by a continuous referral of clients, both personal and corporate.
What insurance products do you represent?
We have three divisions: Personal Lines such as homeowners or renters insurance, automobile insurance, even watercraft insurance; Commercial lines such as business insurance, workers compensation/short term disability, and employment practices liability; and Life, Health & Annuities products including individual life insurance, long-term care insurance and estate planning.
How do you help clients select the best products for their needs?
We assist our clients by taking the time to build long-term relationships with them. We begin by asking questions which will allow us to develop and market well designed insurance programs that will always be in the client’s best interest and tailored toward their needs. At the same time, we provide the outstanding service that they expect and deserve.
Are your prices competitive?
Yes, our prices will be competitive based on several factors namely the available companies that are best suited to the risk as well as the characteristics of the risk. For example, in our Life, Health and Annuities division, since we are in a position to represent all insurance companies we can proved the most competitive premiums for all risks.
Property insurance rates are a big concern to Weston homeowners. What advice and products do you provide to protect homeowners while keeping costs down?
There are many factors that have affected property insurance rates such as reinsurance rates increasing worldwide, and Florida insurance companies now having to buy more private reinsurance because the subsidized Florida Catastrophe Fund is over extended. In 2011 the Florida legislators approved rate increases because carriers were hit hard by claims resulting from Hurricane Dennis and Hurricane Wilma which affected their reserves.
At the Mackoul Group, we have assisted our clients in keeping these costs down by utilizing companies that are financially strong and stable and backed by A-rated reinsurance carriers. We review and remarket each renewal policy to see how we can make adjustments without compromising the client’s needed coverage. Increasing deductibles, ensuring that the insurance carrier has on file a burglar and/or fire alarm certificate for an activated system, deleting unwarranted coverages, bundling policies for multi-policy discounts, and most important, providing the company with an updated Windstorm Mitigation Inspection Report are just a few of the options that we recommend to our clients to offset the increase in their premiums.

We are the Florida affiliation of Mackoul & Associates located in New York. We are one of three companies which fall under this umbrella. The Mackoul Group of Florida is the only company that is operated by a non-family member. I worked for CEO Robert Mackoul for many years before relocating to South Florida in 1994. I have been a property and casualty agent and resident in the Weston community ever since. In 2010, Mr. Mackoul established this agency as his Florida affiliate entrusting me as his managing partner.
Anything else you would like our readers to know about you and your insurance agency?
I have built a reputation in the industry based in my integrity, dedication and loyalty to my clients, as well as expertise in this field. My doors are always open to my clients and I try to accommodate them by scheduling appointments after hours when it is convenient. I have provided each client with my cellular number on my business card along with an invitation not to hesitate to contact me if they have the need. I have always maintained that I have no customers, as they become friends and family once they enter this agency. My longtime assistant Joann Vegueria is bilingual to assist our Latin American Clientele. The number one motto of our company is “We Care about our Clients.”
